  just thought i'd share that we attended our first "worldly" cookout last weekend.

  everyone got drunk and it turned into a huge orgy.

  at the end we sacrificed one of the partygoers to gozer the destroyer.. not!.

  Honeymoon - either pagan or from when brides were kidnapped

  Funny how most JWs I know love weddings and make a big thing of anniversaries - but birthdays, woo well candles had a pagan origin - clearly wrong!

  The other reasoning about how the bible only speaks of birthdays in a negative light is rubbish too as it mentions Job and Abraham celebrating their kids birthdays too.

  who had a child molester in their congregation ?

  i have done this thread a long time ago , but a few newbies have joined recently and may have had some experiances to share , there was 2 in the congregation i was involved with (i was a "study" ) one was from bethel in america and got deported after his prison sentence and the other was reprooved for abuse then carried on abusing in the congregation , years later he abused my daughter and after i found out i reported him to the police , but he had got off "scot free" for 20 years untill i reported him .

  i believe the one from bethel was reported to the police simply because elders kids were affected ..

  there is an account of Abraham celebrating Isaacs birthday too somewhere, I found it once, can't remeber the passage now - something to do with Isaac's coming of age ceremony or something similar.

  like many brothers before me, i have decided to symbolize this new dedication to freedom for myself and my family with a beard..

  why would he pretend? I would prefer a country leader to be an atheist rather than biased by a religion. I guess the US has a different view on it?

  This makes no sense to me:

  1) You believe the JWs are doing it wrong because they observe and not partake

  2) If 7million odd of them are all doing it wrong then surely the whole thing is wrong

  3) Why go and partake at something that is wrong?

  If you believe point 1 then surely the whole thing is pointless, just have your own celebration or go to a catholic church or something?
